Dal Spinach Curry

You will need....

Toor Dhal -1/2 cup
Spinach - 1 bunch
Turmeric - a pinch
Asafoetida - a pinch
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1 big
Garlic - 6 pods
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Corriander powder - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chilli - 3
Oil - 2 tsp




Get going....
1.  Soak toor dhal in 1 cup of water to enable it to cook faster.
2.  Wash and chop the spinach along with its stem.
3.  Chop the onion, tomato and garlic.
4.  Add a pinch of turmeric and asafoetida and pressure cook the toor dhal upto 3 whistles.... wait for the  
     steam to be released completely.
5.  Place a kadai on the stove and add the oil.
6.  Temper it with the fenugreek seeds and red chillies.
7.  Add the onion and garlic pods.
8.  After they soften, add the spinach leaves and cook until it wilts.
9.  Now add the tomato.... let it cook for a minute.
10.Then add the mashed up dhal along with the chilli and coriander powder.
11.Add salt and water to bring it to the desired consistency and let it cook for 5 min before you switch off the stove.

Serve it with rice and pappad. It also goes along well with chapathi.
