Greengram dosa is from the Andhra cuisine.... (I think! Hope I'm not wrong). It is also called as pesarattu. I was introduced to this dish only recently. It is a protein rich dish and is ideal for weekend dinner along with peanut chutney and idli podi. Do give it a try... I adapted the recipe from Sharmi's blog.
You will need..........
Greengram - 1 cup
Raw rice - 1/4 cup
Green chilli - 4
Ginger - 1 inch
Onion - 1 (chopped finely)
Garlic - 5 pods (chopped finely)
Curry leaves - 2 sprig
Hing - a pinch
Salt - to taste
Get going..........
- Soak greengram overnight or for atleast 8 hours.
- Then drain the water and reserve it.
- Grind greengram along with ginger and green chillies, adding water (the reserved one) to a smooth batter.
- To this add onions, garlic, curry leaves, salt and hing. Mix well.
- Heat a dosa pan. Pour a ladle of the batter and spread it into a dosa or adai. Cook until it turns golden brown. Flip it over and cook for 2 mins.
- Repeat the same to make the required number. Greengram dosa is now ready.
Enjoy it with your favourite chutney and idli podi!!!!!!!!!!!
