Buns never miss my weekend baking list... as they are not only easy to make but also very healthily tasty as they are made from wheat. I always try to replace white flour in most of the recipes(lotssssss of health concern!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously.......... believe me ;-) ). When I came across this recipe in Raks kitchen I wanted to try it and.....................I won. They were wonderful with Indian flavors..........and is a great combination with a cup of coffee..(especially filter coffee!!!!!!!!).
You will need..........
Wheat flour - 1 and 1/2 cups
Warm water - 1/4 cup
Yeast - 2 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Olive oil - 2 tsp
For the filling
Mixed veggies - 1 cup (chopped)
Onion - 1 (chopped)
Coriander - 2 tblsp (chopped)
Green chilly - 2 (chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chilly - 1/2 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tsp
Get going.........
- Mix yeast in warm water and allow it to proof.
- Take wheat flour in a bowl along with salt. Make a well in the center. Pour the yeast mixture and knead it until you get a soft pliable dough. Oil the dough.
- Oil a bowl and place the dough. Cover it with a cling wrap and allow it to rise in a warm place for an hour or so.
- In the meantime, prepare the filling. Heat a tawa with oil. Add jeera. Wait till they splutter. then add the onions and greenchillies. Cook until the onion turns translucent.
- Now add the other veggies and cook until they are done. Add chilli and turmeric powder. Give a stir. Add salt and coriander leaves. Switch off the stove. Let it cool.
- Take the rised dough, punch down the air. Divide it into 6 parts. Roll each into a thick disc. Place the filling. Pull the dough to cover. Complete this for all the portions.
- Place them in a baking tray and allow it for the second rise.
- Bake them in a pre-heated oven for 15-20 mins until they become golden brown on top.
Enjoy it warm with a cup of coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
